A new-build Gateshead hotel has been kitted-out with Marshall-Tufflex’s Sovereign Plus PVC-U perimeter trunking, a system developed specifically for installations requiring a neat, smaller-sized containment system. Fully equipped with the latest business and leisure facilities, the £17 million 200-bedroom hotel is managed by a

global hotel brand. Construction of the seven storey building involved architects Harris Partnership, main building contractor Marshall Construction and mechanical and electrical contractor AF Connell. Established for 40 years, AF Connell is a family firm specialising in commercial and leisure installations. Sovereign Plus is suitable for residential housing, light commercial and leisure applications where a smaller trunking system is required.

enq.127 Pioneering design helps dementia sufferers

St Catherines View in Winchester opened in May 2012 – its design reflecting the latest thinking in dementia care. The Colten Care home is set out in five house groups, each one catering for different levels of dementia and providing the right blend of calm and stimula- tion for each resident. Thoughtful interior design is evident throughout, allowing the

greatest possible independence for residents. Colten Developments adopted the highest standards of building, fixtures and fittings throughout and Vicaima’s Classic Oak doors were integral to their design. There are en-suite wet rooms in all bed- rooms, and hydrotherapy spa baths in each of the five house groups.

Ceramic granite ventilated façades supplied by Shackerley have provided a stunning appearance and a high performance outer envelope for the new Hilton London Wembley Hotel, overlooking Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena. The Manser Practice delivered the luxury 361-bedroomed hotel with monolithic highly polished black façades and flush glazing, which provide a vivid contrast with the dramatic white concrete of the Arena. Over 3,400m² of ceramic granite was supplied in a 1,200 x 600mm ‘installation ready’ format for the exterior hotel elevations. All the panels were prefabricated at Shackerley’s ISO 9001 accredited production facilities in Lancashire and were fitted with hanging brackets secured by a patented stainless steel undercut anchorage system. They were installed in conjunction with a Sureclad Hang On system by Prater, subcontracted by main contractor John Sisk & Son on behalf of Quintain Estates & Developments. The hotel has attained a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
