TGA launch Turf Show website

Dedicated website offers the latest show information

THE TGA has launched a website for its 2013 Turf Show at www.turfshow.co.uk. It has all the latest information for those planning to attend the show and for companies who may be interested in exhibiting at or sponsoring the biennial event, which will be hosted by Simon Hutton at Fineturf.

The event will be held at the 135 acre turf farm run by Simon, at Carlton Scroop, Grantham, Lincolnshire, on Tuesday 9th July with a turf show dinner that evening at the nearby De Vere Belton Woods Hotel.

Focusing on all aspects of turf production, the show attracts growers from as far afield as Italy, Slovenia and Norway who visit to see demonstrations of the latest machinery and product innovations used in the growing and harvesting of quality cultivated turf.

TGA Chief Executive Tim Mudge said that the association was looking forward to the event: “This is the second time that Fineturf has hosted the show, and we know Simon and his staff will do a great job. The main draw is undoubtedly the opportunity to see specialist equipment at work, and visitors will be able to see machinery working throughout the day.”

training and qualifications Recently launched brand new suite of forestry and arboriculture training and qualifications transforming the way operators access their Licence to Practice

PROFESSIONAL forestry and arboriculture training and qualifications are now available from one place, providing greater choice and flexibility for learners. Where people once had to deal with two organisations to obtain training and assessment, they can now obtain everything they need from Lantra.

To ensure the qualifications meet the needs of operators, Lantra has been working with key industry partners, including UPM Tilhill. The new training and qualifications reflect the latest standards and technical modifications, so that learners acquire the skills and knowledge needed to operate safely.

The new Lantra Awards provision is delivered exclusively through a network of approved providers, instructors and assessors. Learners can be confident they are being trained and assessed by people who are highly qualified and experienced within the industry. Lantra is also providing high quality training materials to support learning.

Supported by industry

UPM Tilhill is set to deliver the new Lantra Awards forestry and arboriculture training

and qualifications as part of Lantra's internal review of the developed standards.

Martin Lennon, Skills Training Manager, UPM Tilhill, said: “As the UK’s leading forestry and harvesting company, and one of the founder members of the Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA), we are committed to embracing innovation and raising operational efficiency and safety standards across the industry.”

“We are delighted to be the first major forestry employer trialing these products to see how the new training and qualifications fit together in practice. I’m providing constructive feedback on the content and structure to ensure our operators are assessed appropriately, both for the individual and wider industry need for competent workers.”
