During the course of a year, our editor gets invited on a number of factory visits. Here, he rounds up his recent excursions
I ALWAYS enjoy visiting the factories of industry
manufacturers, especially when you can see raw products go in one end and the finished model come out the other.
In 2012, I was fortunate to visit five industry manufacturers, with another planned whilst this issue was being printed (sorry Etesia).

Ian says it was quite challenging to bring all operations under one roof; the logistics and cost of relocation was certainly a huge investment in time, money and resources.
The investment saw over £500,000 spent on new CNC machining tools, making the process of producing parts simpler and more cost effective. The company also invested another £300,000 on a new building to house spare parts.

Ian announced that, despite the economic climate, revenue was up by 11% in the first nine months of 2012 compared to 2011. It would seem that the marriage of Dennis and Sisis will be a good one for years to come.
Next stop was the official opening of the new Bernhard & Co factory and training facility in Haverhill, Cambridgeshire. The opening ceremony was performed by Peter Todd, Course Manager at The London Club, and Pat Finlen from the Olympic Club in San Francisco, who both praised Stephen Bernhard for his vision and commitment to the sports turf industry and the part that Bernhard had played in producing better golfing surfaces around the world.
