TAKE a magical train ride to visit Santa and his helpers in his grotto this December. The Gwili Railway is running its


annual Santa Magical Steamings on weekends during December, and for four days from the 21st to Christmas Eve. Travel in old fashioned carriages


IT’S the most wonderful time of the year…and there are some cracking not-to-be-missed festive events and opportunities about Carmarthenshire in the run up to Christmas.


Nov 16: Carmarthen Christmas Lights Switch on, Guildhall Square plus craft fair which is also there the following day.


Nov 17:


Santa’s Grotto at the Castle, Nott Square, entertainment and refreshments;


Ammanford Christmas light switch on and Elves World Record Bid;


Christmas Fair, Church Hall, Llangendeyrn 10am-4pm; Ghost Hunting, Castle House, Carmarthen, 8pm


Nov 22-25: Llandeilo Festival of Senses. Nov 23:


Llanelli Christmas Carnival –lights switch-on 6.45pm carnival parade at 7pm and fireworks 7.15pm; Santa Dash, fire throwers and funfair.


Burry Port Carnival and lights switch on 5.50pm


Nov 24: Christmas Gilded Lilli Fair, St Elli Centre, Llanelli; Welsh Food and drink exhibition, Ammanford; Reindeer procession mid-day Carmarthen town centre

IF you are looking to chill out this Christmas then you have to be at Pembrey Country Park beach Cefn Sidan on Boxing Day for the now famous and 26th annual Walrus Dip. It is a 11am prompt start. Everyone needs to arrive at least 30 minutes early to ensure they get to the tide line by


11am for the brief opening ceremony. Spectators are advised to wear suitable clothing and stout footwear. Dippers should take warm appropriate clothing and towelling down to the tide line to ensure they have some warmth after coming out of the sea.
