October 29, 30 & 31 Halloween ghost tours, Leeds Castle, near Maidstone


This Halloween, hear gruesome tales from Leeds Castle’s 900 years of history at the new evening tour – for those brave enough! Ride the spooky castle ghost train to meet your guide and be escorted around the castle on your tour – starting in the castle’s dark cellars.


October 29– November 4 Halloween Fun Hever Castle, near Edenbridge


A spine-tingling programme of spooky entertainment will keep children amused over the half term break and thrill visitors of all ages. Follow a pumpkin and scarecrow trail through the grounds to discover information about the castle’s intriguing past. Get creative in the drop-in Halloween workshops, where you can make your own trick-or-treat to take home.


October 29 – November 4 Pumpkin Trail, Penshurst Place and Gardens, near Tonbridge


The popular pumpkin trail is back with clues to help young visitors find their way around the gardens, from 10.30am. There will also be craft activities, storytelling and a fancy dress competition in the tea room at 4pm.


NOVEMBER


November 1 - 3 Bonfire celebrations, Kent Life, Maidstone


Children can build a guy on November 1 and 2, with the best guy winning a family ticket (for two adults and two children) to attend a spectacular bonfire and firework party on Saturday November 3.


November 2 Kent Coastal Week fun day, Reculver Visitor Centre, near Herne Bay


Join in a day of fun and find out more about the marine wildlife and history of Reculver, from Romans to the present day. It starts at 11am with a strandline walk along the beach before children's activities at the visitor centre and, in the afternoon, a gentle walk around the site


to discover who lived here and why they left. Prizes are given to children who come in the afternoon in fancy dress as someone from Reculver's past. Wellies and sturdy footwear are required for the beach. Led by Julie Thomsett and Becky Hitchin of Kent Wildlife Trust.


November 10 Hedge laying course, Hadlow College


Bring your waterproofs and warm clothing for this one-day hedge laying course. You will gain practical experience and learn a traditional skill that has different regional styles. No experience required. To book, visit www.hadlow.ac.uk
