December 1-2 Dickensian Christmas Festival, Rochester Packed with shopping stalls, Rochester becomes a feast of Victorian delights where the streets are alive with entertainment, readings, song and dance. There are lamp-lit parades, carols to be sung, Father Christmas to be met and even a guaranteed snowfall, framed by Rochester’s fairytale cathedral and castle. You’ll also see some familiar, fabled characters from Dickens’ much-loved stories.


December 1,2,8,9,15,16,20 & 21 Yesteryear Santa Special, Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway


Visit Santa on the world’s smallest public railway and enjoy all the historical delights of a bygone Christmas. Take a magical ride from Hythe station and meet Santa in his grotto, where each child will receive a gift. Visit the model railway exhibition, listen to a Christmas storytelling session, take in the snowy scene and enjoy some seasonal refreshments. Special ticket prices include a return rail fare from Hythe to New Romney.


December 2 Walk with a Warden, Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre, Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve


Last opportunity of the year to join one of the knowledgeable wardens for a guided walk to learn more about the wildlife and management of this spectacular SSSI nature reserve. Appropriate clothing and sensible footwear essential. Binoculars are useful. Parts may be rough due to muddy ground. 10:30am - 12:30pm.


December 2 Light up a Life, The Friars, Aylesford

December 8 Christmas workshop, Godinton House and Gardens, Ashford


Enjoy the ambience of the Great Hall while learning how to make festive swags and table decorations. Make your own wreath to take home and adorn your door. Booking essential.


December 8 St Nicholas Festival, Canterbury Cathedral


An annual fundraising event that starts with a parade through the city, culminating in the arrival of St Nicholas at the cathedral. The parade is followed by a short informal service. Entry to the service is free.
