October 27 - November 2 Halloween Fear and Fun, Rare Breeds Centre, near Ashford


Halloween daytimes are fun on the farm but only a little scary, just enough to thrill younger children and make them laugh. There are fancy dress competitions every day, a spooks trail and don’t miss the famous devil's pig race.


October 27 - 31 Spooktacular half term fun, Kent Life, Maidstone


For a fun and safe place for youngsters to go trick or treating (between 4 and 6pm), knock on the doors of the attraction’s historic homes to see who is lurking behind them. There are sweets for every child who dares to wake the residents or join the hunt for wooden ghosts hidden around the grounds. Children and grown-ups are invited to turn up in costume and enter the daily fancy dress competition at 3.30pm, with a prize for the best one.


October 28 Halloween tricks and treats, Chiddingstone Castle, near Edenbridge


Enjoy an afternoon of traditional Halloween activities throughout the castle, between 11.30am and 4.30pm. With its ancient collections it is perfect for a little spooky fun. Everyone will be able to enjoy pumpkin carving (until stocks run out) and apple bobbing or take a ghostly walk around the grounds, but keep your eyes open in case one of the castle’s resident ghosts decides to make a surprise appearance!


October 28 Footsteps in Time - costumed guided tour, Rochester


To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, Footsteps in Time is offering its costumed guided tours to the general public on a "turn up and go" basis. The walking tours, led by one of Dickens' characters, takes 90 minutes, starting at 11.00am from the front of the Visitor Information Centre, Rochester. The tour visits 13 Rochester locations (exteriors only), which feature in Dickens' works, as well as visiting the place he wrote his last words. The cost of the tour is £4 per person, payable on the day.


October 28 Pumpkin Day, Godinton House and Gardens, Ashford


Family fun with ghost stories, pumpkin carving, treasure hunt and games. 11am to 4pm.


October 28 The Great British Walk, Bodiam Castle, near Robertsbridge


Visitors can get their walking boots on and enjoy a guided stroll


around the castle grounds and local village as part of this year’s walking festival. There will be several walks throughout the day, departing from the ticket office at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. Walks are free but if you wish to visit the castle, normal admission applies.
