Community school to open in Hadlow
THE Hadlow Rural Community School opens as a brand new free school in September 2013, with places in Year 7 and Year 10 for pupils who aspire to work in land- based industries and who can demonstrate an interest in rural activities and outdoor learning. Against the backdrop of the
dazzling 1,000-acre Hadlow College estate, the school will offer a huge range of opportunities to experience outstanding practical teaching resources, including animal management, equine, horticulture and floristry, countryside and fisheries. The school’s
overriding ethos will be to deliver a unique educational experience through teaching and
learning which will be based on the National Curriculum.
Designed to ensure pupils thrive in education, the curriculum will be enhanced through land-based themes and practical work, with a particular focus on sciences, which, together with English and maths, will form the key subject areas. Innovative teaching will have an emphasis on the rural sector, with experience of themes such as sustainability, conversation and food security, underpinning traditional subjects such as geography and science. To give parents the chance to
learn more about this exciting opportunity, the school is offering open evenings. Taking place at Hadlow College's
