INTRODUCTION BY THE DIRECTOR

This is the second of three RAF Families Federation surveys we are conducting in 2012. Our remit is to provide independent, evidence-based reports but we can only do that if we receive a meaningful response from our audience. We are therefore very pleased that more than a thousand people took the time to complete this survey – either online or at one of the Federation workshops. The level of response perhaps reflects the strength and depth of feeling on the issues of pay, pensions and related matters, and the impact the current economic climate is having. The comments and opinions expressed have helped enormously to add colour and weight to the bare statistics, and we are hugely grateful to everybody who has taken the time to contribute.

The evidence we have gathered will be used primarily to inform our input to the AFPRB in Oct 12 but the report will also be circulated at the most senior levels within the RAF, MoD and government to help inform the debates on policy and strategy in the Community Support arena. To those recipients I would make a plea for some feedback, please: The Team devotes long hours and much effort to running the survey, analysing the results and compiling the report and yet too often we receive at best a muted response from ‘the powers that be.’ Your feedback is as important to us as that of the overwhelmingly positive response we enjoy from the RAF Family. To them, we say ‘Thank you’ for supporting our work.
