FINANCIAL CONCERNS


The two year pay freeze, the allowances review and the current economic climate continue to have an impact on Service families, regardless of rank. For those who said they are now better off financially, many said this was primarily because of a promotion (Figure 17).

While the majority of participants admitted they do worry about money (Figure 18), only 26% actually worry about their debts. When asked whether they had sought advice to help them manage these debts, only 16% said they had. Advice had been sought from external debt advisors, banks/building societies, the Citizens Advice Bureau and/or family and friends.
