Ceram invests in additional hygrothermal rigs to meet industry demands

Ceram, an international materials technology company has extended the scope of its testing of external wall insulation (EWI) systems even further following the investment in two additional hygrothermal rigs to meet industry demands.

The fully compliant hygrothermal performance rigs enable testing to ETAG 004, M.O.A.T. 22 and bespoke testing of walling systems developed as Modern Methods of Construction, or to meet the Green Deal requirements. Although the test programmes are aimed at renders, the rigs can also assess other materials and finishes such as cement particle boards, glass reinforced plastic (GRP), MgO boards and cladding. The new rigs feature an enhanced capability; testing of insulation properties, incorporating conditioning to +70°C and 95% RH.

Furthermore, Ceram has developed test methods to certify EWI systems with a brick slip finish, allowing product certification and qualification.

Product Guarantees The M.O.A.T. 22 test programme can be combined with structural strength and wind loading tests (static and dynamic wind loading are available at Ceram) to predict the expected lifetime of a render product, thus allowing manufacturers to guarantee the lifetime of their products.
