Avoidance of the risk of condensation in the roofspace is being optimised with additions to Glidevale’s brand-leading Protect range of vapour permeable membranes.
VERSATILE, EASY-TO-FIX SYSTEM
Enabling specifiers and contractors to achieve the best performance possible in line with budgetary considerations, the new options- Protect VPTEC 3 and Protect VP300 - offer all the established benefits of the Protect range to reduce harmful condensation risk in the roofspace in line with BS5250.
A heavier membrane than standard VIP underlays, Protect VPTEC 3 offers enhanced strength and can accommodate rafter centres up to 900mm. Protect VP300 compliments Protect Zytec in the midweight range, with a water vapour resistance of 0.17MNs/g.
As with the entire Glidevale range of Protect Type LR underlays, the new materials offer a completely waterproof UV and heat resistant barrier with excellent nail tear and tensile strength. Their ease of cutting further simplifies installation. All can be used as a temporary roof covering for up to three months.

World famous brewers Carlsberg, the makers of ‘probably the best lager in the world’ found themselves with a major problem when edge peel back and corrosion was found at the lap joints and gutter overhangs on the pvc coated steel roof sheets at their Northampton distribution centre.
Although the roof itself was structurally sound and good for many more years of sustainable life, corrosion had started to affect the cut ends of the roof sheet edges as well as roof lap joints where dirt and moisture are easily trapped. If not treated quickly and effectively the combination of untreated cut ends and pollution retention in the lap can be devastating to otherwise sound and viable sheeting.

Maintenance contractor and approved Seamsil applicator JDB Roofing quickly identified the problem and recommended the Seamsil 100 system from Delvemade Limited which has been used with great success in the fight against acid rain and pollution led attacks on coated steel roofs. Seamsil is a patented silicone treatment which has now been specified and used with great success by the UK’s premier cladding manufacturers. The Seamsil 100 system is designed especially to treat Cut Edge Corrosion on profiled metal roof sheets.
Having exceptional flexibility and adhesion it remains unaffected by normal surface movements, UV or extremes of temperature and weather and cures to provide a tough elastic seal that has a proven track record in corrosion control.
