Polyurea protective coatings a bridge to success…

The world’s longest sea bridge that could easily span the English Channel has been built in China. It is 26.4 miles long and its 450,000 tons is protected by the same type of Polyurea coating that a spray-coatings company is now offering to local authorities and businesses in the UK.

The revolutionary spray-applied polyurea protective coating system from GLS Coatings Ltd is touch-dry in seconds and gets you back in business - fast.

In today’s financial climate, down-time is a critical factor in specifying products for any refurbishment work undertaken by businesses or local authorities.

While relatively new to the UK, it has been used in the US for over 30 years and is so tough that it is used by the US Military for blast mitigation!

From bridges to bunds and from roofs to basements, Polyurea is the protective coating of choice for increasing numbers of specifiers and contractors.

Technology

Polyurea coatings combine extreme application properties such as rapid cure, even at temperatures well below 0°C, and insensitivity to humidity, with exceptional physical properties such as high hardness, flexibility, tear and tensile strength, and chemical and water resistance. This results in good weathering and abrasion resistance.

The systems are 100 per cent solids, making them compliant with the strictest VOC regulations. Due to its specific curing profile and exceptional film properties, the polyurea spray coating technique has been introduced into many areas, including corrosion protection, containment, membranes, linings and caulks.

“Whether you are considering a heavy industrial coating requiring high traction or a clear polyaspartic sealer for decorative concrete, we have the systems and technical support to meet your needs.”

Part L Building Regulations

Complying with the Part L Building Regulations for existing buildings means reducing heat losses wherever possible. Local authorities are facing the possibility of complete roof replacements for schools and other premises, if remedial work is required.

GLS Coatings Ltd have been working with one local authority in providing a spray-foam insulation, covered with our spray-applied Polyurea coating to completely insulate and waterproof the roof, saving many thousands of pounds of rebuilding costs. And getting the buildings back in service the next day.

Insulation board specialists Jablite products are now being coated with Polyurea to provide the complete solution to local authorities wishing to renovate buildings in compliance with Part L regulations.

Water Industry

Increasing interest is being shown from the Water Industry into a new DWI Approved polyurea spray for potable water. GLS Coatings Ltd are currently in talks with a number of companies to spray apply polyurea for reservoirs, water-tanks containing potable water and bunds. Because the product is touch-dry in seconds, it is unique in allowing the client a rapid return to service, unrivalled by conventional materials.

Asbestos Encapsulation

Asbestos removal is a costly and time-consuming business, which can involve the evacuation of the premises for the duration of the work.

GLS Coatings Ltd spray-applied Polyurea coating is making a name in the field of an environmentally safe alternative – Asbestos Encapsulation. While being fully compliant with The Control of

Asbestos Regulations 2012, GLS Coatings’ specialist technicians will spray-coat and make safe the asbestos, without disturbing it.

Using a cherry-picker, GLS Coatings’ trained technicians completely coat the asbestos in polyurea. This serves to protect it from further degradation or cracking and protects it from damage, greatly prolonging its life.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

GLS Coatings’ Director Andrew Evans says, “GLS Coatings puts great value in the commitment to the success of clients' projects and understands the need to quickly find solutions and answers to questions throughout every step of the work.”

“We are Approved Contractors for HP Spartacote, Chemline and Line X products, which deliver incredible value and lasting durability. Whether you are considering a heavy industrial coating requiring high traction or a clear polyaspartic sealer for decorative concrete, we have the systems and technical support to meet your needs.”

“We have just received our accreditation for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which testifies to our commitment to quality procedures and the

environment.”

Andrew Evans - Director

“GLS Coatings products exhibit durability characteristics that far exceed those of other coatings, saving significant costs and energy over the lifetime of any project.”
