Dance in the South Side will continue to learn in a safe environment – after using a grant from Glasgow Gold to buy new fl exi-roll cheerleading safety mats. And the 208th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade Company, based in Pollok, enjoyed a trip to London for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, with the help of £500 from Glasgow Gold.


Glasgow Gold education grants have also proved a lifeline for many struggling students across the city.


If you’re a Glasgow Gold member and are ready to start any form of training or education, there’s still time to apply for an education grant.


From help with travel expenses to covering the cost of textbooks, grants of up to £500 have been making a big difference.


The grants are available to Glasgow Gold members who are engaged in any form of training or education. Iwona Majzuk-Soska, from Yoker, is studying Travel and Tourism at Glasgow Caledonian University and benefi tted from an education grant last year. Iwona said: “I was very glad to receive money towards my travel expenses from Glasgow Gold. I have two children, so the grant has really helped.

“I would thoroughly recommend it to other Glasgow Gold members.” Glasgow Gold awarded its fi rst business start-up grants earlier this summer – to the Belle Vie beauty salon and a tenant setting up her own cross-stitch design company.
