You beauty! Wee Shannan
all grown up A YOUNG girl pictured in one of the original GHA documents is now a beauty queen.
Shannan Finnegan was pictured along with her dad and brother in the consultation document sent to council tenants in 2001 outlining plans to set up GHA.
The photo, above, was taken outside their home in Lenzie Terrace, Springburn. The family now live in Balornock. Shannan, far left, was fi ve and Derrick junior, fourth from left, was eight.
Shannan was recently named Balornock’s Dazzling Beauty Teen – pictured below – and is entered into the UK contest. Young Derrick is now 19 and studying computer animation.
Dad Derrick, pictured leaning out of the window, said: “We’re very proud of Shannan and of Derrick. It would be interesting to see if anyone else recognises themselves from the picture.”

Pensioners’ Waverley trip after Glasgow Gold lifeline
GROUP of pensioners from the South Side enjoyed sailing doon
the watter.
Almost 60 members of the Castlemilk Pensioners’ Action Group took a trip on the Waverley after they received a £500 community chest grant from Glasgow Gold. Castlemilk Pensioners’ Action Group Project Manager Melanie O’Donnell said: “This is our seventh year going doon the watter and our members get really excited.
“The trip helped our members reminisce about their own lives and gives them an insight into Glasgow’s history.
