Get a helping hand with free appliances
TENANTS who are customers with electricity company SSE may be able to get free appliances such as fridges, cookers and washing machines.
The energy fi rm SSE – also known as Scottish Hydro – has teamed up with GHA to offer people on low incomes a helping hand.
The offer is aimed at tenants who are in fuel poverty, and SSE will decide who qualifi es. Appliances are limited to one per household and there are a limited number available.

To qualify for a free replacement, tenants’ own appliance must be broken or several years old.

GHA’s Housing Manager for Penilee, Michael Ratcliffe, is pictured left crowning this year’s queen, Alana Hamilton, at a ceremony earlier this summer. The queen and her attendants were chosen by clients of Capability
Scotland, who are based at Penilee Community Centre.
A total of £1,600 was raised on the day – and £500 was donated to Howford School, for young people with learning disabilities.
