TEAM MACMILLAN already think you’re great for running this year, but why not make your experience extra special and help them change lives?
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. But no one should have to go through it alone. Macmillan is there for everyone affected by cancer, but they need your help to continue providing their vital support.
Daniel Smyth, one of their fantastic fundraisers is already signed up. Daniel completed the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon last year in under four hours and enjoyed his experience so much that he’s coming back to run for Macmillan in 2012. Daniel lost his Grandad to cancer and was grateful to Macmillan for the support they provided. He said: “Running for Macmillan was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. ERSKINE
MICHAEL WOOD is running his first marathon this year for Erskine and is looking forward to a terrific day at Loch Ness. After 13 years of service in the Army Royal Signals Regiment he’s well used to keeping fit. “Running over the Erskine Bridge is a pleasure on a nice day and the views can be spectacular. Sunday is my day for a longer run and it’s nice to get some time to myself.
forget. I felt quite humble running past the Macmillan support with everyone cheering me on.
“I’d advise anyone to run for Macmillan – it gives you that kick you need to get up and go out for training runs.”

I
have three kids so it’s not always easy finding the time for running. I love to stick the iPod on and get out there. I sometimes even listen to bagpipe music or Jimmy Shand but I’ll listen to anything!”
Michael’s motivation for running the marathon is to help injured veterans with the challenges they face.
“My friend told me the other day that for
every person killed in action in Afghanistan, 7 people return home injured. That’s horrific! I’m dedicated to supporting Erskine so they can be there for people when they need it most.”
