BAXTERS RIVER NESS 10K & 10K CORPORATE CHALLENGE RACE INSTRUCTIONS


n THE START l The 10K will start at 10.45am next to Inverness Royal Academy – please see map on P8 l Your race number will correspond to your estimated finish time and where you stand for the start of the race (e.g Race No. 5187 starts from pen marked 4901-5200). l Please follow the signage to take up position in your allocated Start area and listen to marshal instructions carefully. l Please respect and be considerate to other run- ners by allowing them to overtake within the first 3km where the road is at its narrowest.


IMPORTANT: The race organisers would ask that all runners are sensitive at the Start due to the proximity of the Start in relation to residents’ houses and to use toilet facilities/ portaloos provided in the Academy. We will not tolerate antisocial behaviour.


n THE ROUTE The Start is next to Inverness Royal Academy on Culduthel Avenue (near junction with Culduthel Road B681). From the Start, the route travels up Culduthel Road turning right on to the Southern Distributor Road and continuing on the Southern Distributor Road before turning left on to Essich Road and turning right down Torbreck Road. The route carries on down Torbreck Road before turning right onto the Dores Road B862 (the route then follows the same route as Marathon to the Finish). The route continues along the same road directly


into the heart of Inverness, turning left into Cavell Gardens, following Ness Bank and Castle Road and turning left over the main town road bridge and left again immediately after the bridge into Ness Walk. The route continues along the edge of the River


Ness, along Ness Walk, Bishops Road and Bught Road to the Finish at the Bught Park. Important: Runners must keep in the left hand lane at all times The organisers reserve the right to alter the route if operationally required.


n DRINK STATIONS There will be 2 Highland Spring drink stations located along the route, water will be provided in 330ml bottles and be located:

RUBBISH - IMPORTANT: Please help us keep Inverness tidy. After each drinks station there will be a rubbish collection point located 1 mile further up the road. Please help us by either dropping your bottles/rubbish/gels at the drinks station or at the rubbish points.


n TOILETS l There are Portaloos/ toilets at Inverness Royal Academy and at the Event Village at Bught Park. Por- taloos will also be located at the 5km mark.


n KILOMETRE MARKERS l There are ascending Kilometre markers along the route.


n ROAD CLOSURES l We have priority on all roads along the route. l However please keep to the left hand side of the road at all times as it might be necessary for emer- gency and officials vehicles to travel along the route.
