BREAST CANCER CARE
BREAST CANCER Care has guaranteed places in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and would love you to join their team. Ian Broughton ran for them in the 2011 event, here’s his story… After running in several short distance races over the years, Ian decided to tackle a longer distance and take on a full marathon. To help him with the challenge, he decided to run the marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Care, a charity close to his heart after his wife’s diagnosis of breast cancer in 2008. Ian said: “The charity was a really valuable source of information and was a great support during my wife’s treatment and recovery. “After months of hard
training, marathon day finally arrived, I pulled a hamstring at 10 miles, so the next 16 were really tough. At the end I said never again. By the next week I’d signed up for a half marathon!” Through the generosity of friends, family and a very kind matched funding donation from his old workplace, Ian raised over £1100 for the charity. If you’re inspired by Ian’s story and would like to run the Loch Ness Marathon for Breast Cancer Care please get in touch.
