JULY 2012 THE RIDER/ 5 HorseDancer, an Online Musical Freestyle Competition

Season One Winners are announced… now taking entries for Season Two!

A new kind of Horse Show was born in 2012, with the launch of HorseDancer, an Online Musical Freestyle Competition. HorseDancer seeks out videos by anyone, anywhere in the world, on any kind of horse doing Musical Freestyle routines of any discipline. Performances can be classi- cal dressage, or reining, or liberty work or bridleless or anything the entrants can come up with… even drill team perfor- mances. Videos can feature multiple rid- ers/handlers or multiple horses or solo work. Basically, in HorseDancer, anything goes! The goal is to have fun with your horse, show the world what they can do, challenge yourself and entertain us. The fun part is that the judging is done by everyone, on the HorseDancer Facebook page.

they enjoyed the creative process of making the video and this new style of competition. With not everyone having a million-dollar horse, or a truck and trailer (let alone money for gas), it is great to have a competition where you don’t even have to leave your farm, and your performance can be seen anywhere in the world. And instead of just a ribbon, winners earn prize money. HorseDancer is now accepting entries for Season Two. To enter, come up with a musical freestyle routine (alone or with friends) no more than 7 minutes long, and have someone film it for you. Post the video online (ie. YouTube) and

send the link along with your registration to HorseDancer at www.horsedancer.net. Each season has a maximum of 10 entries, and when the class is full, it is posted to the HorseDancer Facebook Page where it is voted on by “likes” from the public. Buck Brannaman says that everything we do with our horses is a dance… show the world what happens when you and your horse trip the light fantastic.
