This Summer’s Great Read Comes Right OUT OF THE BLUE
Out of The Blue by Cheryl Bruder
Self-published paper back, 359 pages
Cover photos by Rachelle Rousseau
Front cover art by Patrick Berry
When I read author Cheryl Bruder’s previous novel, My Mezeppa, a cou- ple years ago, my review said I thought the story provided an entertaining and unpredictable plot, interesting and unique characters, believable dia- logue and heartfelt emo- tion, a challenge for some writers in their early efforts. Well, all of that can be said about her new novel, Out Of The Blue, but it is almost like she has been practising and gain- ing experience, between the two novels. The atten- tion to detail and produc- tion of the actual book has a very professional look with lovely cover photos by Rachelle Rousseau and some great creative work by Patrick Berry on the front cover.

The story is written in first person and although that seemed unusual at the beginning, the style seems to suit the story, and it ends up feeling like a bit of a journal. Bruder’s writing has become more comfort- able and easier to read. Her descriptive vocabulary has grown impressively and she uses the precise words to effectively capture the ambiance of each scene. For example, the tranquil atmosphere in the opening chapter is nearly palpable. As much as I enjoyed her first novel, this one I liked in a completely different way. Very nice.
Out Of The Blue is a story about different kinds of love and self-discovery.
It is about new beginnings and inevitable endings and transitioning from one chapter of a person’s life to the next. Bruder’s main character, Dana Foster has experienced plenty of loss in her life. Years ago, the marriage of her one and only love, Neil, to another woman, left her heart raw and aching for him. Per- plexed, she doubts if she really knows what love is at all. And now, the sudden and unexpected loss of her closest friend, Gerry White Cloud, and secrets uncov- ered in the aftermath, have left her reeling.
appears but is it to take Moose from her or to save him with her.
Watching Dana learn what true love actually looks like is heart warming. Out Of The Blue is romantic and uplifting with just a bit of heat and enough mystery to keep us readers inter- ested. A good bet for a great read this sum- mer.
With the power of native spiritualism she learned from Gerry, her spirit guide and the quiet of a peaceful old farm, Dana is working her way through the pain and confusion day by day and finally begin- ning to move on with her life. Her newest challenge is a difficult horse named
Cheryl Bruder, Author’s Biography As an author, Cheryl Bruder got off to an tremendous start. She began by fighting her way into the literary worked double fisted, launching her first two books simultaneously. Impressive for a woman who began by writing poems and short stories just for the love of it.
Growing up in South- ern Ontario, she has always been passionate when it comes to her life and her family. Her intense emo- tional bond with horses has influenced her life and she has spent much of it riding and working with them. Now, with her love of writing and passion for horses blended together, her talent is ever growing and her story ideas is as inexhaustible as her love of horses.
Cheryl has done many book signings which is her favourite way to meet her fans. In the accompanying photo, Cheryl is pictured with her lovely arabian mare, Ruby. She wel- comes visitors and mes- sages through her website,

Hungary Withdraws Bid To Stage FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2018
Hungary, one of five countries confirmed as offi- cial candidates to stage the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in 2018, has withdrawn from the bid- ding process.
The Hungarian capital Budapest had been named as one of the five 2018 bid cities earlier this month, but in a letter to FEI Secre- tary General Ingmar De Vos this week, the Presi- dent of the Hungarian National Federation Vilmos Lázár confirmed that the Hungarian bid has now been withdrawn.
In the letter Mr Lázár stated that the Hungarian

Federation’s Board had made the decision to with- draw the Budapest bid as there were two candidates from the same region. Hun- gary’s immediate neigh- bour, Austria, is also one of the official candidates to host the FEI World Eques- trian Games™ in 2018. Mr Lázár said that his Board hoped that the with- drawal of the Hungarian bid would enhance the chances of Austria staging the Games in 2018.
“Of course we are sad to lose the Hungarian bid for 2018”, FEI Secretary General Ingmar De Vos said, “but we respect the National Federation’s deci- sion and admire its gener- ous support of the neigh- bouring bid from Austria. We still have four very strong candidates in the mix and it will be a very exciting bidding process. We very much look for- ward to welcoming them all to FEI Headquarters next month.”
The four countries in the running to host the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in 2018 are Rabat (MAR); Bromont (CAN); Vienna (AUT) and Wellington (USA). Bidding teams from the four bid cities will come to FEI Headquarters in Lausanne for a meeting on 11 July.
