Also, the numerous silent auction item donors. Thank you to Greenhawk for donat-

Thank you to Fred Walter and his crew for the delicious beef bbq which all proceeds went to the WHAO. It was absolutely delicious and I know that you guys worked hard all day long cooking it up. If you haven’t had the chance to try Fred’s bbq, you have to make a point of doing it.

Thank you to Alice’s for bringing her brand new trailer and cooking delicious food for our exhibitors.

With a small committee, it makes it tough to be every- where to do everything. Thank goodness we have such wonder-

ful members and their fami- lies. From dragging the ring, raking barrels, cleaning up the bbq to making sure their stalls and the grounds are cleaned up, everyone really pitched in to make this show a suc- cess…Johnstons, Walters, Jacksons, Pat Brundage, Lori Love, Cody Farrell, Jonel Boyko (broken arm and all!), Wendy Thompson, Peter Emick, Kelly Lehman, Faye & Don Farrell, Herb Towers, Mal King, Kit Bartle…Thank you! I’m sure I am missing a lot more, but I think I’m still in a haze! If you helped out in any way, we really appreciated it! It was great to see some of our past members and life- time members coming to sup- port us. Bill Stirling and Herb Towers to name a few. It was nice to hear Herb’s voice as the announcer on Friday night. Really brought back memo- ries!

the first time and we were so glad that you joined us and hope to see you out again at some of our upcoming shows. Many of us were quite worried when we saw Rachel Reid (Jackson) have an acci- dent after finishing her barrel run (which she placed in!), but as of writing this article, she is at home resting and doing well. Lee and Sue Jackson wanted thank everyone for their help and concern following the acci- dent. I think everyone on the show grounds was relieved to get the updates as they came in. Rachel is still stiff, sore and a bit foggy, but getting better each day. She reports that her horse is ok too and went to see her the day she was released from the hospital!

The show following Extravaganza is/was (depend- ing on when you read this issue) a WHAO Point Award Show combined with Saddle Up Northern Ontario Horse Association on July 7 & 8. The games classes will be run on the Saturday and the perfor- mance on the Sunday. Along with hosting a show, they are also supporting their local food bank. Anyone who brings 5 or more non perishable food items will receive $5 off their admin fee. What a great way to help out the community. Having another show in that area is a great opportunity for those who live in the Northern regions to show at more WHAO shows. We had a few people become members at the Knowlton Ridge Show in June and started earning points towards year end awards the moment they joined. You only need to show in 5 Point Award Shows to be eligible for year end awards. With the Knowlton Ridge shows, SUNOHA show and Trout Creek shows, those are the 5 that you need to be eligi- ble! We thank Knowlton Ridge and SUNOHA for giving us the opportunity to allow our “Northern” friends to run for awards.

As mentioned, Trout Creek is a go again for this year. It is always a great show with a lot of really nice people. Not to mention, the footing in the pen is perfect! The Ran- some family work really hard. I say this each year, and I’ll say it again…if you have never gone up to Trout Creek for the show, I strongly encourage you to go.

It’s hard to think of the fall, but the fairs are coming up! Orangeville, Welland, Ancaster, Simcoe, Burford. Time sure is flying.

I’m positive that I am for- getting things that I wanted to put in here, but I’m still trying to recover from the weekend! The adrenaline has stopped pumping! I will post them on Facebook as they pop into my head.

Be sure to like us on Face- book (facebook.com/western- horseassociation), follow us on twitter (@official_whao) and visit our website (whao.org) to stay up to date on all of WHAO’s information.

Becky
