Association News

The very first “AQR Classic 7up Show” was presented in Sorel-Tracy on June 15-17 last and the Open Aged Event Level 4’s first Champion was Heather Vaughn riding the 8- year old stallion ‘Wimpys Tinseltown’ (Wimpys Little Step x Showtimes Tinseltown) for owner John Fletcher (Waterford, Ontario, Canada). Reserve Championship went to ‘Special Edition’, a 9-year old gelding owned by Louise Gagnon (Ter- rebonne, Quebec, Canada) and ridden by Jean-Martin Donais. Both riders also finished on top of Open Level 2. A very good field of 14 Non Pro riders saw Robert Des- landes (Shefford, Quebec, Canada) and 9-year old stallion ‘Mr Star Chic Olena’ (Clays Chic Olena x Nancy Joe Star) win- ning the Non Pro Aged Event Level 4 while 19-year old geld- ing ‘Hillbillie With Cash’ picked up both Reserve Champi- onship of Level 4 and Championship of Level 2. The 12-year old gelding ‘Holly Tag Star’ (Mr Holly Tag x Belle Mercy Star) and 16-year old Raphaël Bourdeau (Napierville, Quebec, Canada) came on top of the Youth Non Pro Aged Event of this Maturity and were presented the Mor- rison trophy. Milvertons 22nd Rodeo a great success By Ross Millar

Milvertons 22nd rodeo was a great success as is seen in these pic- tures. Both days were full capacity and the best way to tell of the entertainment value is when every person is still in their seats to watch the last bull ride. The Milverton committee must be congratulated on a wonderful job. The dance was SOLD Out as Alberta Pre- mium Rye and Laker Beer had record sales. The new additions to the arena from System Fencing for the 2012 sea- son made the set up much easier and Bustards Chrysler was on hand with their RAM trucks showing off the New LONGHORN edition.

Justine Gordon was crowned the New RAM Ambassador for 2012. The competition was held over the 2 days. The finalists were in the street parade that kicked off the week- end. Cowboys and Cowgirls put on a very tough showing with the competition fierce.

The Canadian Cowboys Association held a 2 day judging clinic on site. Kevin Grad came out to put the school on with all the Ontario judges in attendance. The Cowgirls Barrel Racing saw Jessie Mathieu on her new horse win with a 3 way tie for 3- 4-5 just hundreds of seconds behind. Jr. Barrels saw Kaitlin

Boss take honours while in Pole Bend- ing Samantha Gray had a great 20.7 second run. Break a way roping saw Cody Langman start the year off with a 3.9 second run to win.

Tie Down roping was highly com- petitive with Jarrod Noorens 9.1 sec- ond run. Team Roping saw Brad Roe and Brad Bowie defend their 2011 title catching 2 steers to win with a 7.8 sec- ond and 12 second run. In Steer Wrestling Rod Weese exploded out of the chute to put on a 3.4 second run. The roughstock events saw a great pen of Bulls and bucking horses. Joe Corville took honours in Bareback while Rod Weese won saddle bronc. Young Lane Morris captured the crowd winning both Jr. And Open Bull riding. At only 15 he has set the mark for 2012 right off the start for the competition.

The next RAM Tour event is Warkworth as we move into a very busy summer. The Ultimate Tour begins next weekend in Shannonville with Cow- boys/girls gaining points

for the CCA and eastern finals to be held in New- market in October. It will be a long exciting summer on the trail.

Best of Luck to every- one.
