A record almost 1,800 entries and 144 horses were shown in the 37th Annual TEEN RANCH QUAR- TER HORSE SHOWS set at the beautiful Teen Ranch in the Caledon Hills, Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17. These are the only TRIPLE Judged Quarter Horse Shows in Ontario. Ms. Bonnie Jo Clay, TX; Ms. Chele Murrell, LA; and Mr. Tom McBeath, MS. were the judges. The show was approved for OQHA and Area 3 Promotional Club Year End Points. The shows were again co-hosted by TEEN RANCH & O.Q.H.A., Inc.

Connie and Sylvia DiDonato were the show secretaries with assis- tant, Vannessa. Sherry Newbigging, Cambridge; Shari Irwin, Courtice; and Sandie Heirwegh, Canfield served as the ring stewards. Bev Marshall was the Teen Ranch show coordinator who with the other Teen Ranch staff including Nico and Dar- ryl took care of maintaining the rings and grounds. Rachel and her older sister, Janet Stevens, the 3rd genera- tion of the Stevens family made many of the award presentations. Ken McLellan was the show manag- er and announcer with Pete Hammer as the Show Chairperson. Valerie Love took stall reservations and Debbie Pereira assisted Val with shavings and stall assignment. The Ontario Amateur Quarter Horse started sales on their Fund Raising Raffle. Amateur member, Laura McArthur has generously donated a “Hobby Horse Saddle Stand”. Tickets are only $2.00 Tick- et or 3 Tickets for $5.00. The draw will be made at the OQHBF & Sum- mer Finale Quarter Horse Shows in Ilderton, the last weekend in August. .

Tim spoke on horses that he had over the years including a rope horse that he rode at Quartera- ma. “Blondie” and other horses that he had been a part of his life. The OQHA 2012 Queen Contest was held at Teen Ranch on Sunday. 2012 OQHA Queen, Ms. Tausha Hellyer of Ashton, daughter of Warren and Diana Hellyer was introduced and made several award presentations for the Western Pleasure classes. Despite the threatening skies on Sunday, the weather cooperated with only a few drops of rain over the entire weekend. The grounds were immaculate with the flowerbeds maintained by Teen Ranch founder, Mel Stevens. Excellent food was provided by Fat Boys Food Conces- sion.


Sponsors included long time Teen Ranch supporters, Herbert Boots of Alliston and of Deboer’s Tools of Bolton. Leader Award Manufactur- ing (Action Rosettes and Ribbons) provided the Grand & Reserve Rosettes. Home Hardware and Building Centre, Orangeville was the shavings supplier. Home Hardware has been a tremendous supporter of OQHA including the OQHYA and the OQHBF. Crawford Quarter Horses (Shawna & John Crawford) of Richmond sponsored the High Point and Reserve Small Fry, Goody totes; High Point Rookie Youth, $25.00 Cineplex Gift Card and High Point Rookie Amateur Award, $25.00 Gas Card. Father’s Day prizes, Small Fry Showmanship and Lead Line Prizes were donated by Ken & Glenda McLellan, Appin.
