Style MAKEOVER

I had been looking forward to giving my congratulations to the lucky winner of the Style of Wight Style Makeover competition so it was a pleasure to meet Winifred for her Initial Consultation. This complimentary session is an important part of any style enquiry I receive as it provides an opportunity to meet and get to know each other a little better and to discuss the personal styling sessions ahead.

Winifred was very excited to have won the coveted prize but, like a lot of my clients, she was also a bit apprehensive and a little nervous too at being ‘made-over’. After an hour’s relaxed chat in a quiet spot in the lounge of the Bembridge Coast Hotel, we had addressed any concerns that Winifred may have had about the makeover process and Winifred felt much more comfortable and ready to start her makeover.

The best place to start is with a Colour Analysis as this provides the ground rules not just for clothes but hair, make-up and even accessories like jewellery and glasses. Wearing colours and tones which enhance your complexion, complement your hair colour, and make your eyes sparkle, not only change the way you feel but how others see you too. Using colour drapes, we worked through the shades which best suited Winifred’s natural colouring giving her a brighter, more youthful look. I was then able to make up a personalised colour swatch wallet which was extremely useful when we decluttered Winifred’s wardrobe and which would help when shopping for clothes.

Winifred admitted that she felt a little daunted when she received my preparation guidelines for her Wardrobe Declutter. It can be pretty overwhelming when the whole contents of your wardrobe are laid out on the bed! However, after explaining how liberating it was only to have clothes in your wardrobe which fit and flatter your body shape and styles that suit you, Winifred was raring to get started. In around two hours, we looked through each garment and whilst we discussed what best suited Winifred’s body shape, I was able to give her lots of styling advice on how to wear things together and tips on which accessories would really make an outfit.

Winifred thoroughly enjoyed her session and now has a beautifully organised wardrobe where she can pick out an outfit effortlessly with the knowledge that everything works well together. In addition, we now have some good ideas and a great shopping list of what to look for when we go shopping for clothes around the Island in a few weeks time. I look forward to sharing news on our shopping trip and to revealing Winifred’s fresh new look in the next issue of Style of Wight!

In the meantime, Winifred is also looking forward to having her hair styled at Jaks of Ryde, pampering sessions at Zen Beauty in Newport and a consultation with Dr Manning at the Lighthouse Clinic at The Beacon Centre at St Mary’s Hospital.
