NICA NEWS UPDATE……………...……by Ba NICA Board of

Directors Sets the Course for the Future. The NICA Board of Directors

held its annual three day Board Workshop in Tampa Florida, April 24–26. The Board and staff spent the first day, developing a Strate- gic Plan for the future.

It was a

process that involved a lot of small group exercises to ensure every- one’s voice was heard. Long and short term goals were

adopted by the Board by the end of the workshop. These goals will be the framework to help NICA become stronger in the future. “It was a very educational workshop with great benefits to the membership as a whole. It

group of people, willing to work as one to achieve very pertinent goals for our organization to be even greater than we already are” said Board member Justin Satter. Tim O’Brien noted “Together we worked on a strategy for excelling NICA to the ultimate level.” The Workshop also included a routine Board meeting that ad-

dressed many issues that will set the foundation for the future. The Board approved a new vendor to handle our membership data system and our web site. The new website will enable mem- bers to update their profiles at any time and renew membership on line. It will also provide more advertising opportunities for our partner and members. The new website should be active by Au- gust. “The positive energy generated in the three days of our spring

workshop left me believing NICA is ready to become the “Go To” voice of the concessionaire within our industry” said Board mem- ber Tony Trafton. New board member Rosie Ash commented ”As a new board member, I was impressed with our Executive Direc- tor’s leadership through our workshop. We have information, now we have to get to work.” All the members left the workshop feeling very positive that a

course was set to address many items that will improve the ser- vices offered to the members and help NICA be a recognized and respected voice throughout the industry. Board member Joe Po- tillo put it best, “This has been a challenging, thought provoking work week. The motivation to continue to seek growth, new bene- fits, and better relationships is driven by NICA’s greatest asset – our membership.”
