ZONE II NEWS.………...….Submitted by Bcy Baha, C E oe I ek

Greetings to members of the Florida Federation of Fairs and Livestock Shows!

June has arrived and along with it the hurricane season officially begins and so does the fairs, shows and festival season! Here’s hoping that we have a prosperous fair season!

From all accounts passed along following the FFF and Zone II combined meetings in St. Augustine, all was a success. We continue to strive for strong numbers from other Zone II states to attend this event, and I strongly believe that in due time, they will come.

I once again apologize for not being in attendance due to my fair’s 150th Heritage Celebration, but I extend great thanks to Marlene Jolliffe, Lisa Hinton and Marla Calico for taking on the charge of leading and following through with the Zone II meeting. Zone II is again most appreciative of the $2000.00 donation extended to us from the FFF.

It’s great news that Zone II will support TWO YPI scholar- ships this year, up to $1000.00 each! MANY, MANY thanks to all of you for your support to this worthwhile program as we invest in our future industry leaders.

Just as a reminder, Zone II will be electing a new zone di- 31 rser F , Zn I Drcoiet r

rector during the IAFE Convention in Las Vegas. The nomi- nating committee is being chaired by Carey Harveycutter who can be reached at charveycutter@salemva.gov. Also serving on the committee with Carey is Claudine Davis at claudine.davis@ncagr.gov; and Sue Sullivan at suesown- line@aol.com. Please contact anyone of these folks to sub- mit your nominations.

Zone II continues its membership drive, so please support us and passing along any membership suggestions to Nan- cy Smith, CFE, from the South Carolina State Fair, our zone II membership chair. She can be reached at nan- cys@SCstatefair.org for more details. More to come…!

We continue to keep Zone II’s Facebook Page updated with current information. Make sure you become a fan of the page! Randi Nikolas from the State Fair of West Virgin- ia is serving as the page administration. Feel free to con- tact her at events@statefairofwv.com for more information! More to come...!

Finally, I hope you are planning to attend the 2012 IAFE Convention in Las Vegas, November 25-29 at the Paris Hotel. In 2013, our own Marlene Jolliffe will serve as the IAFE Chair. We are most proud of Marlene and the role she will fill on the national level.

Until next time, here’s wishing you a safe and successful 2012 fair season! … MORE TO COME!
