Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Mary was married to her late hus-
band, John Wray Hammond for 48 years before his sudden passing in 2007. Among Mary’s special interests were spending time with her family and numerous friends. She was also involved with the Dade County 4-H Clubs and a longtime member and volunteer at the Miami-Dade County Fair. Robert “Bob” Hugh Hubsch, Sr. November 3, 1922-August 23, 2011
Bob was born in Jacksonville and raised in Miami. He attended Navy aviation school, graduated first in his class and became a Marine Corps pilot. He helped develop and was a partner in several avia- tion businesses, among them, Freeport Flight Ser- vices and Africair. He was a major contributor to the development of the aviation industry in Miami. Bob was a volunteer on the Safety & Accident Prevention
Committee for the Miami-Dade County Fair. The committee assisted staff in evaluating and implementing safety programs. Bob is survived by three children and five grandchildren. Bob’s guestbook is available until 8/25/2012 at

Frances “Frankie” Elaine Ryttenberg March 5, 1952-October 16, 2011
Frankie, wife of Miami-Dade County Fair Director, Harry
Ryttenberg passed away October 16, 2011 in Henderson- ville, North Carolina. She was a native of Miami and a pre- school teacher for many years. She was also a secretary for Merrill Lynch in Coral Gables. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Harry, two children and two grandchildren.
Alexander “Bud” Dow March 15, 1940-November 30, 2011 Bud was born in New Marlborough, MA and served in
the US Marine Corp. He was on the Board of Directors of the Volusia County Fair for over 20 years, and was employed at Weaver Construction for the past 15 years. He is survived by his wife Helen Estep Dow and they
would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2012. His daughter and granddaughter also sur- vive him. Bud’s guestbook is available at

Eloise, “Miss Eloise, Grandma,” was born in Archer and spent most of her life in Citrus County. Eloise worked beside her husband Mike for 62 years on their ranch and farm. Always active in her commu- nity she served many years as Livestock Chairman of the Citrus County Fair Board, she was awarded the title of Fair Director Emeritus, was presented the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce Heritage Award, recipient of the Citrus County Cattlewoman
of the Year and was nominated by the Florida Dept. of Agriculture for 28
Woman of the Year. Many years ago Eloise was honored to have the Citrus County Fair arena named in her honor. She is survived by two chil- dren, eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Guestbook available at

Harold D. Fair December 30, 1937-March 17, 2012
Harold was born in Atlanta, GA. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Africa. Harold volunteered at the Citrus County Fair, where his wife was Secretary for over 25 years. He was known for his many clever ways of carrying the day’s receipts to the bank. He was a strong and caring man who overcame much adversity and many obstacles that life presented him, including polio in his early twenties. The one thing that he could not overcome was the loss of his wife of 44 years, Thayer, on Febru- ary 1, 2012.
He is survived by seven children, thirteen grandchildren, and 4 great- grandchildren. Guestbook available at

Vera Mae “Vee” Hinton May 19, 2012
Vera, mother of Bob (Lisa) Hinton, of Sydney
passed away peacefully on May 19, 2012. Vera and her husband Elton, moved to Florida in 1948 and then to Sydney in 1952, where they started farming. She was proud to oversee the farming operation along with her sons while Elton taught Agriculture at Turkey Creek High School. Remaining active in the agricultural community and the farm for the rest of her life, she kept an eye on the fields from her house in the center of the farm. Family was her number one priority, and she leaves behind a close knit family farming operation. She is survived by four sons, eight grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Glenn Adger Whittington, Jr. August 29, 1929-June 11, 2012
Glenn was born in Darlington, South Carolina and grew up in Trilby and graduated from Pasco High School. While serving in the United States Corp of Engineers he oversaw the construction of the NASA launch pads at Cape Canaveral. He was an engineer and worked on the development of the Klystron tube, satellite systems and the robotic arm of the space station. He was an active contributor of railroad artifacts to the Florida Pioneer Museum. Glenn married Charlotte Tomkow in 2007 and they were happily married for five years. He is survived by his children, step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including Lisa (Bob) Hinton of Riverview. Guestbook available at
