Rock N Rodeo Literally Rocked For the First Event On
The Prestigious New Holland Pro-Rodeo Series
Over 10,000 spectators attended the first ever ‘Country 95.9 Rock N Rodeo,’ the first leg of the prestigious New Holland Pro-Rodeo Series at the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village in the heart of south- western Ontario’s Essex County.
Standing room only rodeo performances, star power country music concerts and a “shop till you drop” boutique vil- lage attracted 10,000 visitors to the park-like setting from Friday thru Sunday of the May Victoria Day long week- end.
Event organisers Christine and Gerard Bernauer, who were overwhelmed with the resounding support from the local business community and Essex residents, were quick to throw thanks to the significance impact of present- ing sponsor the Blackburn Radio Group’s Country 95.9, the amazing cooperation of the facility in this new venture and the cadre of outstanding volunteers who worked tirelessly for months before and each day of the ‘Rock N Rodeo’.
“The spectator stands were packed to the rafters for each rodeo performance and there wasn’t a spare blade of grass showing for the outdoor concert featuring one of Canada’s hottest country artists, Dean Brody, following the Saturday evening rodeo performance,” said Christine.
Orr, a former rodeo bareback champion, was quick to deflect praise to his major sponsor New Holland, refer- ring to the “sea of blue equipment” generously provided by the Ontario New Holland Dealer Association and to Appliteck, which provided the custom-made arena, pens for the rough stock and the onsite display stalls for the horses.
The Bernauers were full of praise for rodeo producer Shawn Orr, owner/president of A Bar K Rodeo Produc- tions. “Shawn promised world class competition and he more than delivered,” they said referring to the depth of rodeo contestants... many of whom travelled to Essex from Quebec, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York and Wisconsin.
“A new event, with newly created competition arenas usually presents a challenge,” said Orr. “The provision of literally millions of dollars in loaned New Holland equipment made the job easy and almost seamless. The state- of-the-art Appliteck arena and stock pens enriched the experience for both competitors and organisers, creating a spectator-friendly atmosphere for the thousands of new rodeo fans.”
