“Participating in the fashion show has encouraged me to broaden my perspective, to question and thoroughly research the fi bre and push its boundaries. “The collection proved that beautiful designs with eco-friendly and sustainable credentials can be created – aims which are high on the fashion industry agenda. “The show gave the UK’s emerging design talent the opportunity to present innovative uses of a fi bre that isn’t associated with couture end creations – it was breathtaking! With the assistance and support provided by the sponsors, and the energy and vision of the two ‘Carolines’, the event was a huge success.”
Antonella Commatteo of University of Wales, Newport, who was sponsored by Bozedown Alpacas
Winner: Rebecca Peattie
“I was genuinely shocked to win because the competition was so tough. My item took six months to make, using a combination of machine, hand knitting and crochet. My aim was to create a fusion of traditional and modern design and the alpaca fi bre lent itself perfectly to the process. I’ve really enjoyed the experience and feel very lucky to have been involved.”
