event taking place at the Hartnell College Alisal Campus, 1752 E. Alisal Street in Salinas. The event will feature an appearance by Valencia de la Vega, Ms. Latina World 2010. There will plen- ty to do as hands on activities, demon- strations and displays having to do with science and technology will engage both young and old. The event will also feature fine arts per- formances featuring different dance and

musical styles. Other areas will focus on nutrition, sports, healthy living and respect for the environment. A play area will have special activities for younger children and complimentary refreshments will be avail- able while they last. This event is free and open to the public. A joint project of Hartnell College and the Alisal Union School District, Family Science and Health Day is made possible by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation Youth Fund.
Garden Tools Needed San Martin/Gwinn

an Martin/Gwinn Elementary is looking for items for our school garden. We are
in need of a couple of good condition wheelbarrows and a lot of shovels. Any other misc. items would be helpful as well, rototiller, hoes, hoses, gloves, ect. We are putting together a garden program for our students and need tools for them to use. Items would have to be in good condition and safe for our parent volunteers and stu- dents to use.

earn leadership skills, gardening, health and nutrition from the staff
at the Gilroy Demonstration Garden. At the end of the three week internship program, teens can apply to work as a day camp counselor for our summer youth sessions. The program is twelve hours a week. For information on this program, please email friendsofthegar-
