will by vying for bragging rights at San Juan Bautista’s Rib Cook-off, May 19 and 20. This annual event is free to the public, so hurry over. The competition will be hot and the flavors bold! Located along Third Street in down-


town San Juan Bautista, the aroma of low and slow grilling and other secret cooking techniques has drawn thousands of mouthwatering festivalgoers. The teams from three western states, including past winners from Reno Nugget’s Best In the West Rib Cook-Off, will be barbecuing approximately 8,000 pounds of ribs over the festival weekend. Visitors can get in on the fun by voting for their favorite rack of ribs by casting


their vote on Saturday for the People’s Choice Award. Official judging takes place Saturday at 3pm and the winners will be announced on Sunday at 1pm. This is a must-attend culinary, music,


craft and family event. Covering six city blocks, this festival is a good place to feast, browse and shop while enjoying non-stop outdoor live music. There’s a variety of traditional festival food for non- rib lovers, and over 150 art and craft booths will be on-site exhibiting their wares. Back by popular demand, “The Rob Tracy Band” will perform both days on the main stage, playing the best in clas- sic rock and country favorites.
