News Updates 9 Mumbai developers to pay fire protection fee


Developers in Mumbai will have to pay a fire protection fee along with scrutiny fees to get their building plans approved by the fire department, according to a proposal awaiting the nod of the municipal commissioner.


The fire protection fee will be charged for residential buildings, commercial buildings, including

malls, commercial centres, luxury hotels and multiplexes. This is the first time that the civic body will be charging a fire protection fee for new buildings.


The fee will be in the range of Rs 50-60 per sq m for commercial structures and Rs 25-30 per sq m for residential structures. Cur- rently, the fire department gen-


erates revenue to the tune of Rs 40-50 crore through various fees for new building structures. The fire department currently charges a scrutiny fees to grant no-objec- tion certificates (NOCs) to new buildings. Fire officials have also proposed an increase in the scru- tiny fees for high-rises and other structures.


DLF Brands appoints Real Estate IQ to clinch deals


DLF Brands has signed a memo- randum of understanding with the Delhi-based retail real-estate advisory firm Real Estate IQ under which the latter has been author- ized to represent DLF Brands to secure various properties and re- lated commercial deals in further- ance of business of the company.


The MoU says that to secure such deals, Real Estate IQ can use the brand name of DLF Brands and other representations in various


forms of communications, and stating its alliance between both the companies. The MoU is a mu- tual understanding between both the parties to secure and create current and future prospects for the business of DLF Brands with- out any financial transaction or commitment at the time of execu- tion and during the tenure of the MoU.


DLF Brands will according to the MoU would treat Real Estate IQ


as a preferred partner to secure property deals and related busi- ness proposals.


DLF Brands, that started op- erations in 2008, has launched various global brands in India including Armani, Alcott, DKNY, Claire, Mothercare, Boggi Milano, Mango (For South, East and West India), Sunglass Hut, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Early Learning Center.
