Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) is all set to roll out its first 205 tonne dump trucks in September 2012. The company is also in its final stages of introducing 150 tonne dump trucks at the end of March.


The Tamil Nadu government has issued orders clearing acquisition of 20.40 acres of land for expan- sion of Madurai airport. This is the first instalment of land meant for the airport.


The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had asked the government to provide 800 acres to extend the existing runway and construct other facilities to convert the

airport into international stand- ards. Following this, the transport department issued a government order approving acquisition of 20.40 acres from Ayanpapakudi village in Madurai for the project.


The airport has a new terminal and a 7,500 feet runway and the AAI is planning to extend it to 12,500 feet.


V RS Natarajan, Chairman and Managing Director, BEML, said that Coal India would be one of the prime buyers and there were other customers too. BEML is also in the advance stage of manufacturing its first 190, 200 and 205 tonnes dump truck for the Indian mining industry.


The company has hired US based consultants to design the prod- uct. “These equipments will be at par with global mining prod- ucts,” said Natarajan
