f there was one man who bridged the arts and sciences it was the savant Arthur C. Clarke, who said that ‘any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from

magic.’

Even the oldest, most firmly established casinos must now look to the highest technology to enhance the gaming experience for customers that demand tradition combined with a clean, smoke- free digital future. And for those like me, who are just about to launch in an increasingly competitive environment, technology is what will help define us. The Hippodrome Casino will be a state of the art operation in the most traditional of settings, a 1900’s theatre. We have renovated the entire building, but alongside replacing artisan plasterwork and traditional ballustrades we have injected a formidable digital core. We have used more than 400 miles of Cat5 cabling to reach every corner of one of London’s most iconic buildings. As befits a site that stands on Leicester Square, and the busiest street corner in Europe, our exterior LEDs will reflect what’s in store for customers inside. Our technology allows us to be versatile and flexible using as many modules as possible, to change some of the spaces for different use on a daily basis. Some hospitality and events spaces, private dining rooms and our cabaret theatre The Matcham Room all have multi-functional use to incorporate gaming and poker if and when required. Digital lighting and music systems can change atmosphere and mood down to a few square metre space or throughout the building. Combine this with a Visimetric facial recognition system, 220 CCTV cameras, external smoking areas with electronic gaming, a player start button on semi automated roulette and individual roulette units with Tombola number generator…I think we can safely say the Hippodrome has embraced an evolving technology.
