Bill Validators are like Gaming magazines - many think there are just too many - so what are the reasons why for your choice; what is so special at the MEI range?

The MEI bill validators are simple the best in the market. MEI is the largest provider of payment systems. MEI systems are relied upon for more than 2 billion transactions per week in over 100 countries. MEI has the largest worldwide installed base of unattended payment mechanisms. In 2010, it reached a milestone of selling more than five million bill acceptors and six million coin mechanisms worldwide. Such success comes from having the best product available to the market. For example, the value-added trials (VATs) that casinos carried out provided for a head-to-head comparison with competitor products. The sheer success of the VATs and the ever growing number of casinos specifying MEI on the EGM orders justifies very much that we are right in our partnership with MEI. The new Easitrax Soft Count system is another example on how MEI is bringing successful products to the gaming market.

In a previous interview we discussed the importance casinos value to ensuring slot players are aware players are winning, so how have sales been for your payout systems and hoppers?

We are active in many sectors of the industry. For example, the street market still prefers payment systems with coins and notes only. The benefits of cashless are entering this market, too. Let’s remember that cashless refers mainly to the way of receiving wins. The initial play is often entered via the bill validator on the EGM. Yes, you’re right that pay-out systems, such as hoppers, are then not required in a cashless environment. It is important to state that we offer complete solutions – so if the

demand for our hoppers falls, then the demand for ticket printers often rises. Here we work together very closely with FutureLogic who introduced ticket printers to the global gaming market.

What new products recently introduced are you particularly impressed with and why?

We are particularly impressed with the success of our new Celebration Topper. This innovative and exciting topper creates a new level of excitement on the casino floor. It interfaces into the ‘SAS Jackpot’ line of the slot machine and when the selected level of a jackpot is achieved the topper triggers a ‘Celebration Event’. The celebration event includes customisable video messages on the 15.6” LCD display, light pipe LED’s rise out of the top of topper, flashing LED’s on sides of LCD, confetti launcher throws out a burst of confetti from the topper and loud audio alarm celebration sounds. The goal of this ‘Celebration’ is to create a new level of excitement on the gaming floor for players and therefore stimulate more game play.

Casino operators are really embracing this technology. At last players can be rewarded in a really special way. And the players in the casino become part of this celebration as it is visible and audible. It creates almost a kind of party spirit. Our initial thoughts were that maybe the players would not like the confetti around the machine once they won. The opposite has turned out to be the case. Players love having the confetti around – it puts them at a higher win level, so-to-speak!
