CONTRACTS & PROJECTS CelebratingMr. Jack’s birthday

CCL Decorative Sleeves have created a stylish limited edition full body sleeve for a special birthday edition of Jack Daniel’s famous TennesseeWhiskey. Since no one knows the exact birth date of Jack Daniel – the story goes that his birth certificate was lost to time, or lousy record keeping – the great man’s birthday is celebrated all September long. Last year the celebrations, under a campaign encouraging consumers to ‘Round Up Their Friends for a Taste of Tennessee’, included a special bottle and branded ice bag to drive consumer awareness and to tap into the ‘nights in’ trend. The unique 70cl bottle design was created exclusively for the UK to make a perfect gift or commemorative keepsake for those who appreciate both the legacy of Mr. Jack’s Tennessee whiskey. The eye-catching matt black sleeve accentuated the bottle’s iconic square shape and was six colour gravure printed on 50mym PET, with gold and white accents surrounded by the brand’s trademark filigree, which maximised on-shelf appeal and ensured increased visibility in-store. For more information call 01553 769319, email sleeves@cclind.com or visit www.ccl-label.com/decorativesleeves.

Lasermarking ink coated card lasers, which are, says the company, ideally suited to ablating

many common inks used on card stock packaging for consumer items. The C02

wavelength typically bleaches out the ink, leaving

behind a crisp white mark. This type of mark is achieved at very quick velocities even at low laser power and is perfect for marking ID information or expiration dates. In these types of applications, laser marking has several advantages over traditional ink and adhesive labels. Unlike adhesive labels, lasers create a permanent mark that cannot be removed and compared to inkjet printers, a laser marking produces a higher quality mark while eliminating consumables and maintenance issues. The particular application pictured demonstrated the laser’s ability to mark expiration dates at high speed on varnished, ink coated card stock using a Synrad 10Wlaser and an FH Flyer marking head. For more information call 01295 672500, email info@laserlines.co.uk or visit www.laserlines.co.uk.

Halewood installMakro labeller

With the continuing growth of the Halewood International brands, the company were in need of a new high speed modular labelling machine that could apply both wet glue and self adhesive labels to ROPP closure sparkling wine and cork and wire Champagne-style bottles in a variety of sizes including 75cl, 1 litre and 1.5 litre. While the majority of the existing filling line was retained, the old labeller was not able to cater for the exacting requirements needed to dress these iconic brands and after careful evaluation of the labelling machine market, Halewood International again opted for aMakro Labeller. In this instance, the modular labeller is equipped with three stations and comes equipped with Plug and Play removable labelling stations for both wet glue and self-adhesive label dress. The newly installed machine will be dressing Halewood's Chaumet Sparkling Wine, Bucks Fizz, Lambrini Bubbly and standard Lambrini products with front, back and shoulder labels at speeds up to 14,000 B.P.H. For more information call 01283 712720 or visit www.makro-labelling.co.uk.
