Over 1000 distribution points!

Mosaic Missive

How quickly the month has gone by since our last missive. As usual we are busy at Mosaic Community Church, Javea Park despite the bitter cold. The children of Little Bubbles continue to come in three times a week bringing their noise and laughter (and sometimes tears!) and the cooking, well that goes without saying.

In this issue we would like to thank a gentleman who ‘lurks’ in the English Bakers in Jávea and goes by the name of ‘Mel’. Through the bakers he discovered that food was being provided for the disadvantaged and now, every week, he brings us big bags of veggies purchased on market day. Thanks Mel. Whilst mentioning the English Bakers another thank you is called for as they, when a new special delivery of bread arrives from the UK, donate a huge batch of rolls and loaves to us. Fortunately we were recently given an old counter top freezer to allow us to store the bread thus enabling us to distribute it when required. Isn’t it great to hear about the kindness and generosity of others - without these people we could not provide the help needed. We are also extremely fortunate as once a month, we receive 100 portions of food, for example dishes of Chicken & Rice, Meat & Veg, as well as their much sought after Lasagne. This is thanks to the restaurant La Cocina in Puerto de Javea (near the boat roundabout) who have, for well over a year, been closing their doors to customers at lunchtime on the last Thursday in every month to provide for the ‘Hungry of Javea’. Thank you Mel and Laurie – oh! two Mel’s – are there any more Mel’s out there? To conclude, no, there are no more thanks this month but just some simple questions. Have you every asked yourself ‘What is life all about’? Or ‘Why am I here’? When we are young with a hectic lifestyle, dealing with family, children and our work we rarely have time to ‘think’ let along ponder on these questions. Later in life we often become immune to the things we see and hear about because we have heard and seen them all before. It is usually when disasters or tragedies strike in our lives or to our nearest and dearest, that we begin to ask the questions ‘WHAT’ and ‘WHY’. If you have or are asking these questions right now, perhaps you would consider visiting us at Mosaic to see if we can help to provide some of the answers.
