Convention Keynote— Suzie Humphreys

This year’s Keynote SpeaKer for

the Annual Convention and IAFE Zone II meeting is Suzie Humprhrey. Suzie Humphrey’s background is

as varied as her audiences….from being an Administrative Secretary to a television talk show host, to 20 years in radio. She has hobnobbed with movie stars and politicians, in-

terviewed the great and the “near” great. She has made hundreds of commercials, done musical comedy and mo- tion pictures, she has been fired, been broke, been disap- pointed, been a petrified expectant mother at 40 years old and lived her life with a passion for learning not only how to be better, but to see things differently.

Historical Exhibit Contest The Florida Federation of Fairs will again offer the Histori-

cal Display Contest. The purpose of the competition is for Florida Fairs to create displays to educate the public on how their Fair got started and how it has progressed through the years. Photographs of the display, along with short essays, will be

judged and rosette ribbons will be awarded at the 2012 Fed- eration convention, to be held in St. Augustine. Information about the contest is available on the Federation Web site.

ASSOCIATE OF YEAR NOMINATIONS Each year the Florida Federation of Fairs honors individuals

that have had an impact on our industry and our Association through the Hall of Fame Award and the Associate of the Year Award. These prestigious awards are presented at the Annual Convention. We ask your help in nominating deserving individuals for

these awards. Nomination forms may be requested from the Federation office at lisahinton@floridafairs.org.

The deadline for nominations is March 15, 2012.

Convention Hospitality Suite— Invitation to Participate

We hope that you will visit the Hospitality Suite at this year’s

annual convention. In order to make your visit to the Hospitality Suite even more enjoyable, we are asking for donations to help defray the costs that are incurred. The suite committee appreci- ates any donations, whether in-kind or budget relieving. If you would like to send a cash donation (check) please forward these to Lisa Hinton at the Federation. Again, we appreciate any help to make our annual convention something that we can remem- ber. Hospitality Committee Chair, Lee Bakst, Florida Strawberry Festival.
