Leah Norris—Assistant Manager Lake County Fair— Eustis, Florida
Leah Norris began
Leah’s a GATOR FAN just in case you can’t tell for sure!
her career in October of 2005, and became Assistant Manager in November 2011. Nor- ris was born and raised in Eustis. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Food
for the Fair. She is the 4th generation to be involved with the Lake County Fair, through either volunteering on the Board or as part of the staff. Norris grew up on the fair- grounds, where her father, Happy Norris, CFE has been Manager since 1997. The time she spent volunteering in the office, and spending time on the grounds cultivated a love for the Fair Industry. At a young age, she expressed the desire to live the glamorous life of a Midway Owner, like J.D. and Ann Floyd, the owners of long-time Lake County Fair carnival, Cumberland Valley Shows. Al- though, her childhood dreams of traveling the country with the Carnival never came to fruition, she has realized a new dream and is very happy with her place in the Fair Business. Leah is also involved in the Florida Federation of Fairs,
and Resource Economics. While at UF, she was active in Sigma Alpha sorority, Gator Collegiate Cattlewomen, FRE-NAMA, and the Agriculture & Life Sciences College Council. October of 2005 was not the first time Norris “worked”
as well as the IAFE. For the Federation she implemented Florida Youth Involved (FYI), and has been a Chair on various committees for the past 2 years. She has also been a moderator for Roundtable Discussions and a Pan- elist for workshops at Conventions and Summer Work- shops. Norris is the Facebook Administrator for both the Federation’s as well as IAFE-YPI’s pages. Leah is involved in her community. She is taking part in
Leadership Lake County, a 2-year program to educate future and current community leaders about Lake County. She is also on the Board of Directors of Lifestream Foun- dation, which governs a behavioral healthcare facility. She volunteers for various events throughout her commu- nity, and it always looking for another way to get involved and make her county better.
