One thing’s certain: Todd is always on the lookout for the perfect conversation, expression or idea to capture in his next painting! “The people in my work are the people I encounter in my life. They range from people I know or meet casually, to people in magazines, on television, at my shows and so on. I am a genuine people watcher so gather plenty of material when I’m sitting having a coffee or a beer too. I’m often asked about my use of humour and pathos – which I think is more important, and to

be honest I think they define each other. Take an example; if someone slipped on a banana skin, half the people would run to help and half the people would laugh, you know. In the end it all comes down to the eye of the beholder and that’s what I rely on - so many people get so many different things out of the paintings. The painting and title is always completely done in my mind
whether I come up with the idea from real life scenarios, magazines or moviesor TV. This means the process is reallyabout getting the finished works out ofmy head and on to canvas. The thoughtprocess can take a long time, thendepending on size or subject matter apainting can take me anything from a day to two weeks.”
