THE COMBINATION OF H
RECOGNISABLE STYLE AND SUBJEC WITH SOME OF THE MOST BEAUT
VIVID COLOURS ON THE SPECTRUM H US ARTWORK OF ENORMOUS PO TREMENDOUS AESTHETIC
Duncan lives quietly with his wife and family on the Norfolk coast in a beautiful cottage, and paints in what must be the most breathtaking studio in the country. A hugely accomplished sailor with an impressive array of daring exploits to his name, Duncan is inspired by his close relationship with the ocean and moved to this magnificent setting five years ago. He also loves to travel however and recently returned from a long family tour of Australia, where he sailed around the Whit Sunday Islands and went hiking in the Tasmanian Rainforest. Here he discovered some colours that were completely new to him, that will be appearing in his future work. Duncan has consistently given us collections featuring exhilarating contemporary

interpretations of ocean and shoreline, as well as more recently some uplifting tributes to his Norfolk home. But he has also used his studio as a place in which to experiment and has become acknowledged he’s a pioneer in the art world for his cutting edge presentations on glass. “Although I am painting actual scenes, I see what I do as interpretative rather than literal, and I have heard many people describe my work as abstract. I paint around a subject rather than transcribing it directly onto the canvas, and I hope that the energy and vibrancy of each image is far more alive to the viewer than the rather more prosaic reality.”
