The diverse array of paintings within this fabulous collection highlight the ‘signature’ elements of Rolf’s style beautifully.


Those vivid colours, heightened shadows, tiny details, and of course that characteristic technique which makes the work so utterly his own can be seen in every individual picture. He spent nine months working on the collection and cheerfully admits that he loved every minute! “I’ve had a marvellous time working on these paintings. Each one of them captivated me for a different reason. The stunning clear pale blue of an outback sky outlining the shapes of the Devil’s Marbles, with the gleaming white gums and a myriad grasses, or the stark branches of trees about to shed their golden leaves against a backdrop of blue- grey evergreens, or the way the small

figures move off into the distance on a beautiful Cornish beach. All these grab me. While I love the subjects themselves, it’s the light, the colours, the composition of these scenes that held my attention in the first place, and I just HAD to get them down onto canvas in my own signature style.’


“I enjoyed everything about the scene


two little boys, the cobble stones and the scraggy looking bit of garden in that tiny park area, and the figures on the other side of the road. They were much more detailed in my photograph, but I kept them really blurry so that they didn’t detract from the two main protagonists.”
