asic digital cameras and even many mobile phones have suffi cient capabilities
to produce great pictures. And with image software accessible to most enthusiasts, turning that super snap into an amazing one is right at our fi nger tips. Freeze-framing those golden
memories starts with a decent digital camera. Even the most basic mega-pixel range can take great pictures if the available light is suffi cient. That means for indoor shots, a decent fl ash is a priority while outdoor pictures benefi t from bright conditions. A further consideration is
movement. A static team picture is less demanding than an action shot but it is the latter that can produce the most dramatic effects.
If your subject is moving across a horizontal plane, try ‘panning’ the camera along the direction of the subject. Set the camera for a high shutter speed and defocus the background to emphasize the subject. Alternatively, with practice you can slow the shutter speed down to produce an effect of movement. Experimenting with different settings and camera movement will reap rewards. So, you’ve snapped some
decent images, how do you make them spectacular ones? Imaging software has become
