location to make this a very memorable event for everyone. The Festival will start with the Flag


Raising and Offi cial Bully Off at 9.45am, Clennon Valley, performed by the Council Chairman, Cllr. Derek Mills and Miss Torbay (Miss Laura Baker). The event will be carry a similar


theme to previous years, with teams playing 6 or 7 games over the weekend at 3 locations: Clennon Valley, Dawlish Leisure Centre and Torquay Girls Grammer School. It is hoped that about 15 teams will again be taking part. Torbay Hockey Club (playing as the Torresdors) we’re one of the original clubs at the fi rst Festival in 1951 , and along with the Oddfellows (originally Exeter University). The Festival revolves around


the Festival Headquarters, The Redcliffe Hotel, Paignton - one of the most prestigious hotels in Torbay - which offers a warm welcome to all participating hockey players and their families. This includes beer at discounted prices and excellent hot food which will be available all day every day as with the use of the Grand Terrace overlooking the bay. There are two trophies to be won:


The Bill Stickles Cup - for the most goals scored and our Fair Play Award - The Redcliffe Cup offering challenges for all teams.

last week for the South West Rugby League meeting at the Memorial ground where it was announced that Bristol will host a World Cup match in 2013, this will be the fi rst international rugby league game to be held in the West Country. The meeting was attended by clubs from Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and Dorset. The SW volunteer awards were also presented and our

vice chair/secretary Christine Fairchild won the unsung hero award for her hard work behind the scenes. The Super League trophy was on show for photo opportunities. Also announced was that Northampton Demons (our opponents in the national semi fi nal in 2009) have been admitted into Championship 1 in 2013, just two divisions below Super League. Once again many thanks for the
