IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS...

his year’s Paignton U16’s come from Schools all over Torbay (and could even be called Torbay

United) boasting a kaleidoscope of talents and not just in Rugby alone. They are a very gifted group of Sportsmen, having also reached the U14 Devon Cup Semi Final two seasons ago. The side are doing well in this

seasons Fisherman’s Cup, and would have challenged for the top spot but for injuries. It is only a question of time before trophies beckon. Winning this year’s Devon plate is still possible. Watch this space!

Aaron Coombes: Paignton Sports and Community College – U16’s Captain – Forward (No8) Power House Aaron plays regularly for Devon, and is a very diffi cult player to replace. Aaron is perhaps playing in his best season for the Club, and with his “fl eet of foot” looks like being the sides top scorer this season, with his unstoppable “bull dozing” runs. Scored a hat trick of tries against Stonehouse Sharks two weeks ago. Recently attended England training at Exeter Chiefs.

16 South Devon

...he says, tongue fi rmly in cheek! Sport South Devon look at some of the local under 16’s teams, judging by the size of them, they’re far from looking like kids!

Zak Baggott: Head Boy at Paignton Sports and Community College - Forward Son of John Baggott former South West Strongman Winner Zak brings an equal physical presence to the rugby pitch with his strong running and powerful scrummaging. Still developing as a player, he is one to watch in the future.

Jack Carlisle: Paignton Sports and Community College – Hooker. Bringing total commitment to the side Jack constantly niggles the opposition (sometimes the Referee) with his “Never say die” attitude.

Luke Solomi: Churston GS – Second Row. Having only recently taken up Rugby, Luke also weight lifts for England. Unfortunately he is currently out with a shoulder injury, however he was one reason why our forwards dominated 2011 Devon Cup Winners Ivybridge recently at Queens Park. A great prospect for the future.

Josh Reilley: Torquay Boys GS – Forward Also bringing total commitment to the

side, the fi tter more mobile Josh, helps to balance the front row with the drive of Zak on the other side of the front row, with Jack in the middle. Like Jack his spirit is invaluable to the Team.

“Henny” Looze: Churston Boys GS – Forward. A colossus of a lad, new to the sport, is still “fi nding his feet”, however with more aggression will intimidate opponents with his sheer physical presence.

Gabriel Alberici: Torquay Boys GS Again able to play in a variety of positions Gabriel has (reluctantly) recently chosen to play Water Polo for Great Britain.

Max Simmonds: Churston GS Following in his Fathers footstep’s Alex (acting Chairman of Paignton Rugby Club) Max is a “chip off the old block” with his sheer strength and determination recently scoring a fi ne individual try in the 65 – 15 win against Brixham.

Harry Harding: Paignton Sports and Community College - Forward Qualifying for this age group by one day,
