Southern Africa Embrace Foundation CHARITY

SINDY ZEMURA-WOODWARD

Southern Africa Embrace Foundation (SAE) is an international not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 2010 in Toronto, Canada. We are committed to advocating, supporting and promoting the wellbeing of marginalized women and children/orphans (0-16 years) in the Southern African coun- tries of Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Re- public of South Africa and Zimbabwe. We aspire to empower, educate and facilitate a better lifestyle to women and children who are faced with a daily struggle in their soci- ety to survive poverty, abuse, hunger, home- lessness, illiteracy and disease. We sponsor and work in collaboration with selected clinics, shelters, educational organizations, orphanages, religious organizations, NGOs, individuals and corporate firms in and out- side the countries we provide our services to.

Our Vision: We envision a strong alliance of Southern African women and

children of today and the future who live in sustainable communities and are self-reli- ant, empowered, prosperous and confident individuals with open access to life’s poten- tial opportunities.

SAE’s women empowerment programs, run in Zimbabwe in collaboration with Lupane Wom- en’s Centre (www.lupanewomenscenter.org) and in Swaziland with Mustard Seed Africa (www.mustardseedafrica.org), were created to promote gender equality, knowledge, ed- ucation and self-sustainability in the com- munities that women live in. As we all know, empowerment is the expansion of one’s ca- pacity to create positive behavioural change and it is through this that development can be achieved. Women in Southern Africa of- ten struggle for equality in making cultural, social, financial and even family decisions.
