The nominees: £35 - £80
£35 - £80 Bowmore Tempest 3rd
NOMINATED BY Darren Leitch ABV 55.6% REGION Islay
“I enjoy the Bowmore expressions 12yo, 15yo and 18yo and enjoy the sherry cask infl uence they offer but this limited edition 10yo at cask strength is a good old fashioned Islay dram matured in American Oak barrels which allows more of the smoked tones through. This is the 3rd release in the Tempest series from small batches and for me is the best and peatiest yet. The Tempest goes very well with an Autumn barbecue.”
Mortlach 21yo GlenDronach 18yo
NOMINATED BY Darren Leitch ABV 40% REGION Highland
“A fabulous whisky with big sherry notes but also with fi nesse. Don’t think mouth clawing sherry as this whisky has a real vibrancy about it. It’s becoming a real hit in the shop but still somewhat overlooked given its quality.”

NOMINATED BY Ewen Mackintosh ABV 43% REGION Speyside
“Prized by blenders for its depth of character, it is not widely available as a single malt. A big, bold whisky with a lot of ageing potential. After 21 years in sherry casks, the result is a beautiful balance of mulled fruits and spices, laced with hint of smoke and a rounding vanilla sweetness.”
