LIGHTING DESIGN CONSULTANCY LAUNCHED


Hirsch Bedner has launched a new lighting design consultancy called Illuminate - www.illuminateld.com. Fashioned by experts with backgrounds in architecture, interiors, theatre and engineering - Illuminate will provide solutions for evocative lighting installations in hotels, resorts, residences, restaurants, and commercial properties.

ANNA CASA The Luxury retailer is opening a new retail showroom in the heart of Mayfair. Anna Casa Interiors opened its first showroom at the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre in 2007, showcasing luxury Italian contemporary furniture. Following the success of the debut showroom Anna Casa Interiors is launching a second showroom this September, offering visitors a contemporary, liveable retail space to browse Anna Casa Interiors collections.


Lee Broom makes his mark


When Westfield Stratford City opens this month, it’ll fea- ture a lighting concept from one of the UK’s most exciting product and interior designers.


In June last year Westfield Stratford City joined forces with a cultural panel headed by Mary Portas to launch its Studio East initiative. The project’s vision was to incorporate East London’s creative spirit into the fabric of Westfield Stratford City.

he panel sought out London’s newest creative talent across the areas of art, product design, fashion


and environmental innovation and four young designers were awarded bursaries and commissioned to create bespoke installations to be incorporated into the new £1.45billion development, supported through the production process by their mentors. Eminent product designer Tom Dixon and Elle Decoration’s Michelle Ogundehin oversaw the Product Design category

For his commission Broom developed and designed an original lighting concept consisting of a dazzling array of fairground light bulbs surrounding a polished lacquered brass ring which together create a stunning halo of light. Property Awards and ‘Best Independent Restaurant’ at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards. The Lounge also received the prize for ‘Best
