he buildings of The George Hotel at Brailes
were built in the 13th Century to house masons working on the magnificent St George’s Church opposite, this generous spirit of hospitality still exists to this day.
Superb food can be found
at The George alongside a very good pint at the bar. Bill Leadbeater (formerly of the superb Masons Arms at Swerford) commented: “It’s about giving The George back to the village as a pub, and creating a good eaterie for the whole area at reasonable prices (£15 for three courses)...” Specialities: 18 hour slow cooked shoulder of Old Spot pork with a rich sauce of raisins, olives and tomatoes - with potato wedges. Pan fried fillet of Cornish mullet, artichokes, spring onions and baby spinach. Pan fried fillet of pollock, crushed potatoes, a cream sauce with bacon and clams. Light bites include an open prawn sandwich with Marie Rose sauce, nachos with guacamole, hot jacket potato with single Gloucester and bacon or ratatouille.
